Since 1993, nearly 10,000 children and adults experiencing homelessness in NE Ohio have received shelter, care, and guidance through Project Hope for the Homeless. Within 31 days on average, an amazing 76% of their guests break the cycle of homelessness and transition to their own housing or enter an in-person behavioral health treatment facility. Volunteers are key to their ability to provide shelter and care to the homeless in Lake County. If you are interested in volunteering, there are several ways you can get involved:

  • Volunteer in the adult shelter or Families Moving Forward
  • Pack lunch bags
  • Share through Word or song in the Shelter Ministry
  • Provide a dinner for the shelter guests
  • Help with labor in or around the building
  • Coordinate a collection drive to provide supplies for the shelter
  • Donate items from their “Current Needs” list on the website
  • Tell others about Project Hope, and like/share on social media.

If you’re curious, interested, have questions, or would like to know more, you can contact the Volunteer Services Director at (440) 354-6417 ext.106. In addition to providing the area’s homeless with safe temporary housing, they also perform the following services:

  • Mental health outreach
  • Substance abuse prevention
  • Survival skills workshops (budgeting, employment, life skills, etc.)
  • General health exams, blood pressure checks, and nutrition and stress management workshops
  • Bible study, testimonials, prayer and praise music
  • Pastoral guidance and support by the various lay leaders and pastors in the local area

Please keep Project Hope for the Homeless in your prayers!
