Lake County Jail Ministry

LCC is one of several area churches that support the Jail Ministry through funding, visitation, discipleship, hope for restoration, and trained volunteers who bring the life-changing light of the gospel.

Our Tom Chapman is on the board of the Jail Ministry serving previously as Chaplain for 25 years, coordinating church services and mentoring inmates. Greg Thompson has been serving the incarcerated men with the trained volunteer team.  Two of our ladies from Leroy serve faithfully once a month at the Sunday service for the incarcerated women.  These volunteers also serve as encouragement to the staff at the jail. A new women’s ministry started 3 months ago. Every Tuesday night from 7-8pm at the jail, our ladies are providing a bible study for the women to grow in their walk with the Lord through discipleship. They have been averaging 17-20 women. They covet your prayers greatly.

Aftercare programs for released inmates who desire help and assistance are available upon release. Our ladies go into several of the rehab houses for individual bible studies upon request. They have developed relationships with these released inmates and their families, and supply spiritual and practical support leading them to relationship with Christ. Another aftercare option for formerly incarcerated individuals and their families is Connections For Hope. This is a free once-a-month event held at Freedom Assembly of God in Mentor.  The evening provides dinner, a worship service with music and a speaker, resources for addiction recovery, and powerful personal testimonies. Usually 60-70 people attend and many have given their lives to Christ. Please pray for the inmates to see the light of the gospel!
