Full-Time Associate Pastor JOB POSTING

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Pastor is responsible for assisting the Lead Pastor in shepherding the Leroy Community Chapel (LCC) membership and its extended church family in achieving LCC’s mission to glorify God by completely transforming our families, community and world into devoted followers of  Jesus Christ through the Word of God. This involves evangelizing the lost, discipling believers, equipping the saints for ministry, and encouraging Christian fellowship. He is to function under the tenets of the LCC Statement of Faith, LCC Constitution, and its Core Values as we believe they reflect faithfulness to the Word and the virtues of Christian Life.

Essential Functions

PREACHING / TEACHING / PRAYING

  • Able and willing to lead the LCC body in consistent, vibrant and believing prayer.
  • Able and willing to teach to multiple audiences ranging from children to adult ministries.
  • Able and willing to function as part of the preaching team for Sunday Worship as needed.


PASTORAL DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY

Dynamic and flexible overseer of assigned activities and ministries.
  • Shepherding assigned ministry teams* by loving, serving, guiding, correcting, and caring for them.
  • Coaching and equipping volunteers and staff for ministry.
  • Collaborating with the team to mark out a path toward fulfilling the church's mission.
  • Ensuring the team has the necessary resources (i.e. funds, people, supplies, technology) to achieve the missional objectives.
  • Building relationships with ministry partners.

* Based on current needs of the LCC congregation, the Associate Pastor will focus on Children's, Students', and Community (young adult) ministries. As the church ministries and leaders develop, the focus may shift to other areas needing oversight. The Associate Pastor will lead regular evaluations of ministries and report to Lead Pastor, Elders, and congregation.



WILLING ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Will report directly to the Lead Pastor.
  • Will work directly with the Lead Pastor to learn about Leroy Community Chapel, its ministries, and its people.
  • Will be receptive to feedback and direction in a mentoring relationship with the Lead Pastor.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In the absence of the Lead Pastor (or when called upon by the Lead Pastor) will provide supervision and shepherding to the staff of LCC ensuring staff functions are performed in a godly, professional manner.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings with the Lead Pastor focusing on elements of spiritual life enrichment, prayer, church calendar planning, team building and problem solving.  
  • Follows the guidelines of the LCC Employee Handbook.
  • Maintains office hours and establishes a schedule with the Office Manager. His schedule, including professional development, and time off, will be subject to approval of the Lead Pastor.
  • Will periodically participate in elder meetings as needed depending on the topic being addressed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a clear testimony of transformation by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, and meet the qualifications of an elder (I Timothy 3). A godly man filled with the Holy Spirit, and able to teach the Word of God in accordance with the LCC Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor's Degree in ministry preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience or related degree will be considered.
  • Four years of ministry experience (which may include various activities before and during college) with a traceable path leading to a pastoral position.
  • Demonstrable gifts in leadership, shepherding and teaching.
