Core Values
Core values are who we are as a church. They are the very foundation of what guides us in priority setting and decision making. The elders at LCC believe it’s extremely important to identify and define these values so that we might maintain guiding clarity for ourselves and help answer the question “why” for the LCC community. Though we recognize that ministries will have specific emphasis, our intent is that LCC as a whole would pursue each of these values equally. We should never pursue one so heavily that we sacrifice the others.
We have identified several core values:
1. God’s Word - The Bible “For you have exalted above all things your name and your word Psalm 138:2.” It is our earnest and prayerful desire to be a church that preaches and teaches Gods exalted Word without apology. The Word is a living tool that cuts deep in the soul to judge the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Heb 4:12 You will notice that the Word permeates virtually every ministry of LCC.
2. Worship - We are called by God to worship HIM in spirit and in truth John 4:24. We are called to express Gods worth in both our personal life and our corporate meetings. We articulate Gods worth through meaningful music, expressive drama, heartfelt prayer, and honoring the Word. Spiritual worship reminds us of Gods greatness and how desperately we as his children need Him. We seek to ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name Psalm 29:2-A
3. Prayer - Prayer changes things and prayer changes us Phil. 4:6, 7. Prayer is our connection to God as our power source. Without prayer we are powerless to be the people God wants us to be and we are unable to do the things the Bible calls us to do. Thru the intimacy of prayer we stand boldly before the throne of Grace because of what Jesus has done for us and we have fellowship with God himself. It is in his presence that we can listen and heed the promptings of HIS spirit on our life.
4. Evangelism/Discipleship – God called us to make disciples Matt. 28:19, 20. To those who need a personal relationship with Jesus, we are called to share the good news of salvation. For those who have a relationship with Jesus, we are called to growth, maturity and works of service. Eph. 4:12, 13: God has called his church, to help one another grow up into HIM. A vital part of this call is beyond the walls of this church or the borders of our community to God’s work through missions around the world.
5. Community - A sense of belonging or family is a product of the common bond we have in Christ. God is a God of relationship and His word clearly articulates a vision of family Rom. 8:14. We are called children of God John 1:12, as well as brothers and sisters in Christ. We care for one another Gal. 6:2. We are called to bear with, love, bless, encourage, correct and work together with one another Rom. 15:1,2. We are commanded not to forsake the gathering of the believers Heb. 10:25.
6. Unity in Diversity – The body of Christ is a one body with many members Rom. 12. We value each and every person. We celebrate the differences that God has made among our church family. God’s family comes in all ages. We see in the church ethnic and cultural diversity, but we are one. There may be diverse spiritual expressions, but we are worshiping the same God. We place value on the abilities that God has equipped us with to carry out His mission for this church. I Cor. 12.
7. Agility/Relevance – Paul said, “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I may save some”
1 Cor. 9:22. We have an unchanging message to be delivered to an ever changing culture. We value the ability to change and adapt our methods and strategy to deliver the good news to those who have never heard. The timeless truths of scripture need to be effectively communicated with relevance to the people of the day we live in both inside and outside LCC.
